It's Party Time Treatment Version is a drug & alcohol program for groups ages 12 and up. It's a simulator in the form of a board game that lets players experience the financial, social and health consequences of using drugs and alcohol. The curriculum is designed for a maximum group of 30 players. The group divides up into six teams and each team is assigned a drug of choice which includes:
Meth
- Prescription Pills
- Alcohol
- Marijuana
- Cocaine
- Non-User
Each team is required to manage a monthly budget which includes selecting their home, auto and fun & leisure activities. They attempt to maintain their lifestyle while experiencing the consequences of their specific drug of choice. When one lap around the board is complete, (one Month in a users life), each team recaps their experiences and calculates their budget for the next month. This recap confirms the negative effects of addiction while demonstrating the positive aspects of active sobriety.
This sharp contrast helps change the users mindset from
"I use to escape my problems" to "My use is causing my problems".
