It's Party Time Curriculum
The following State Sheriff's Associations & School Resource Officers Associations have adopted It's Party Time as their Official Statewide School Drug Prevention Curriculum.

What is It's Party Time?
It's Party Time is a seven session drug & alcohol prevention curriculum for student 6th grade and up. It's a simulator in the form of a board game that lets kids experience the financial, social and health consequences of using tobacco, drugs and alcohol. The curriculum is designed for a maximum class of 30 students. The class divides up into six teams and is assigned a drug of choice which includes:
* Meth
* Prescription Pills
* Alcohol
* Marijuana
* Tobacco
* Non-User
Each team is required to manage a budget which includes selecting their home, auto and fun & leisure activities. They attempt to maintain their lifestyle while experiencing the consequences of their specific drug of choice.
The curriculum includes a pre-test, post-test, a class DVD presentation about addiction and a one hour take home DVD for parents to keep which which answers six key questions about drugs and addiction.
The program connects the three most important authority figures responsible for raising drug free kids. The school, law enforcement and most importantly the parents. We are not just asking parents to talk to their kids about drugs but we are arming them with the information which gives them the confidence to address the issue.
It's Party Time was created by Dawson County Sheriffs' Deputy,
Lieutenant Tony Wooten. Officer Wooten has piloted the program for the
past two years with outstanding reviews from the school administration,
students, parents and fellow law enforcement.
The It's Party Time curriculum exceeds the CDC's School Health Education Resources (SHER) and the National Health Education Standards (NHES) requirements. The standards provide a framework for curriculum development and selection, instruction, and student assessment in health education.
Current application include middle schools, high schools, alternative schools, juvenile courts, treatment groups, church youth groups and youth clubs.
It's Party Time can be facilitated by teachers, counselors, law enforcement officers or any qualified adult with a basic drug education.

75% answered addiction is curable.
After Playing It's Party Time
95% answered addiction is NOT curable. They now understand it is treatable.
99% stated that through their experiences in the curriculum, using drugs or alcohol stopped them from living their own definition of a happy life.
94% of the students stated they would like to take the curriculum again!

83% thought addiction is curable, most answered rehab is a cure.
After Playing It's Party Time
98% answered addiction is not curable. They now understand it is treatable.
99% stated that through their experiences in the curriculum, using drugs or alcohol stopped them from living their own definition of a happy life.
93% of the students stated they would like to take the curriculum again!
94% of the students stated they would recommend the curriculum to their friends!

48% answered frequently
50% answered occasionally
2% answered never
When asked how much did watching the Parent DVD increase their confidence in speaking with their children about drugs and alcohol,
48% answered greatly
40% answered somewhat
12% answered not at all (most were family of law enforcement and had drug prevention training and exposure)
(So that means 88% of parents said their confidence in speaking to their child about drugs and alcohol was increased by watching the Parent DVD!)
When asked would they recommend the DVD to other parents,
98% answered yes
